We poured 50ml of water onto a flat tabletop and tested five cleaning cloth types. We observed three things:
- Absorption speed
- Residual water after wiping
- Whether streaks were visible after the final wipe

How We Tested
The same method was used for every cloth:
- Water preparation — 50ml of water measured in a paper cup and poured onto a flat tabletop
- Absorption pass — Cloth folded and placed directly over the water to absorb; no wiping motion applied
- Flip and repeat — Cloth turned to a dry face and placed again; repeated 2–3 times until the surface was mostly dry
- Final wipe — One wiping pass across the surface to observe remaining residue and streaks
- Observation — Absorption speed, residual water after wiping, and streak visibility noted for each cloth

1. 💧 Absorption Speed
- Four of the five cloths absorbed water quickly on first contact; the exception was the cationic sherpa fleece
- When placed over the water, the cationic sherpa visibly pushed water outward rather than drawing it in
2. 🧽 Post-Wipe Residue
Residue ranking from lowest to highest:
Pink perforated < Grey weekly-use < Green standard microfiber < Blue weft-knit < Pink cationic sherpa
- Dry weight alone did not predict residue — pink perforated (17.43g) left the least; pink cationic sherpa (17.71g) left the most
3. 〰️ Surface Streaks
- Streak visibility followed the same order as residue
- Green standard microfiber and blue weft-knit both fully saturated before the surface was dry — a saturated cloth spreads water rather than removing it
Takeaways
✅ Pros
Pink Perforated Cloth — Best overall absorbency and surface finish
- Lowest residue and least visible streaks of all five
- Still had unused capacity after the test — only partially wet
Grey Weekly-Use Cloth — Fast and consistent across all three dimensions
- Low residue, minimal streaks, did not fully saturate
- Good practical balance with capacity still available after test
🔵 Neutral
Green Standard Microfiber Cloth — Fast to absorb, but saturates quickly
- Fully saturated before the surface was dry — residue and streaks increased once capacity was reached
Blue Weft-Knit Brushed Cloth — Adequate speed, weaker post-saturation control
- More residue than green standard after saturation; streak control slightly weaker
❗ Cons
Pink Cationic Sherpa Fleece Cloth — Slowest response, highest residue, weakest overall
- Pushed water outward instead of absorbing it; highest residue despite never fully saturating
- Weakest performance across all three observed dimensions
Absorption speed alone does not define how well a cloth cleans. In this test, what a cloth left behind — residue and streaks — varied significantly across five cloths with nearly identical dry weights. Material structure, not weight, determined the wiping result the customer actually experiences.
